This session is designed for Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers.  Attendees will be presented with ideas for teaching and practicing comprehension strategies as well as asked to come ready to share themselves.  At the conclusion of the session, participants will have an abundance of comprehension ideas and activities to be used during the upcoming school year.

 

Increasing Rigor Using Writing and Questioning Strategies

How often have you noticed that your students become quickly stressed out during state tests? It is most likely those students are stressed because the state assessment was far more rigorous than the typical classroom test. The Missouri Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards demand increased rigor. This session will use easy to implement questioning and writing strategies to increase the rigor all year so students are not surprised when the new assessments begin.

 

Teaching Strategies & Practices for Working in a Mobile Technology Classroom

Target Audience – 6 -12

 

In this session, participants will discover a variety of teaching and learning strategies for working with students in a BYOD or mobile device classroom setting. 

*Participants will discuss obstacles/challenges they face with multiple devices in the classroom & come up with a way for tackling those issues.

*Participants will be exposed to web tools and strategies that can help them best utilize the various technology their students may have to increase collaboration, problem solving and student presentation.

*Participants will begin planning a lesson utilizing some of the strategies presented
